PORT ANGELES WATERFRONT CENTER

In 2016 a gift of $9.1 M was left by Donna Morris to create a performing arts center in Port Angeles. With this generous gift, her dream is on its way to becoming a reality. In 2017 the conceptual design was completed. The performing arts center will have a 500-seat auditorium where 2/3 of the seating will be on the first level with the orchestra, and 1/3 of the seating will be on the second level. On the second level there will also be a 300-seat conference center, and a boardroom that the community can rent. To help with these events, a Catering Kitchen, and Coffee Shop will be housed inside of the building.
There will be a Fine Arts Gallery on the first level which goes along nicely with the performing arts vision and will be inside this beautiful structure on the corner of Oak and Front Street. This location has beautiful waterfront views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island.
In 2018 the general contractor, Mortinson Construction, was selected and construction is expected to begin the summer of 2019. They are still looking for donors who can help make this dream possible. An estimated $45 M is needed to complete the Port Angeles Waterfront Center. The economic impact will be incredible for not only Port Angeles, but also the surrounding areas. It will bring jobs to the area and revitalize downtown Port Angeles. The surrounding restaurants will enjoy more customers, the hotels will receive more guests who travel to the events and want to spend the evening in Port Angeles. We look forward to having this dream of Donna Morris become a reality, and bless the lives of the residents of the North Olympic Peninsula.
